Welcome, Hokies! Here is some important information on how the chapter communicates with local alumni:

Occassionally, the chapter will send via USPS mail, a newsletter or invitation to an event, such as: a trip to an out-of-town football game, a golf tournament to raise money for the chapter scholarship, or a guest speaker event. These mailings are coordinated through the Virginia Tech Alumni Association; therefore, in order to receive them, you must keep your information up-to-date in the VTAA national database. Please take a moment to update your profile at the VTAA website. Instructions: Click on “View and Update Profile”, enter your PID and password and enter your personal information. Do you need an ID or forgot your old password? Click “Get my Alumni PID” and follow the instructions.

With your PID and password, you can also search the national VT Online Alumni Directory to locate your friends and colleagues, provided they too have kept their contact information current!

E-MAIL:

The Houston Chapter maintains a local e-mail distribution list for timely and detailed announcements. It is an "announcement" list (does not accept replies); therefore, please forward your messages to one of the chapter officers listed on the Officers page. For a monthly service fee, the list is hosted on a server and protected by Net Atlantic, Inc. The list is kept private and strictly used to conduct chapter business. If you have any questions or need assistance, contact the chapter listmaster.

*WARNING! Be aware of your ISP’s spam filter!* Our list is managed with a program called Lyris; you will receive automated responses from Lyris to your subscription commands. Check your “junk” or “trash” folders in case your spam filter blocked them. Also, you may need to add our domain name to your accepted list: “alumni.houstonhokies.org”. Net Altantic also offers helpful suggestions to solve delivery problems.

Existing Members! If you need to change your e-mail subscription information, please UNSUBSCRIBE yourself with your old e-mail, then SUBSCRIBE yourself with your new information. This eliminates the need for password management.

Step 2 - Another webpage will open from Lyris with a message that you have been subscribed. Close the browser. Step 3 - Momentarily, you will receive and e-mail confirmation addressed from Lyris. Be patient! It may take your e-mail server a few minutes to refresh. Step 4 - You must REPLY to confirm your subscription. This step vaildates your e-mail address on the server. Step 5 - Finally, you will recieve a welcome message from the Houston Hokies list.
