The chapter proudly
supports the
Houston Food Bank. Annually, we
collect food and monetary donations at all sports events gatherings. Please help by bringing
non-perishable food
items to
The Fox & the Hound North watch parties, or, if you would prefer to
send a
financial donation:

1) Make a
check payable to “
Houston Food Bank”.

2) Write
“
VTAA Houston Chapter” on the
memo line.

3) Mail to
treasurer:
Bart Hatfield, 726 Winston Lane, Sugar Land, TX
77479.
The Houston Food Bank and the chapter maintain responsibility for your
privacy, and will not release your personal or financial information.

The chapter has an
arrangement with two sports bars to have a room/area and wait staff
reserved for each event.

Hokies Respect! In 2003, the VT
Athletics Department launched a campaign to foster good sportsmanship
among players and fans alike:
"Hokies Respect" Campaign. Our local chapter
exemplifies "Hokies Respect", and in that spirit, we support and
promote the campaign today by continuing to conduct ourselves as
first-class fans. For this reason, when we gather together to support
our team, we are also respected by the fans of our opponents, and we
may closely interact with them in a way that is fun and engaging. In
addition, the management at both locations highly values our patronage,
and we are very appreciative of their support.
Hokie Kids: Occasionally,
people have asked
if they can bring a child with them to the sports bar, particularly
during early Saturday games. The management at both sports bars
welcomes children, and requests that they are supervised at all times.
Bowl Games: As long as VT
earns a Bowl, both establishments will save us a spot to watch it
together!
Please note: the Alumni Association does
not
make provisions for group ticket sales to local chapters. Therefore,
neither the VTAA, nor the Houston Chapter is a resource for tickets to
Bowl Games. Local alumni must then purchase tickets through the usual
channels on an individual basis. In that regard, the committee
respectfully requests that members please refrain from
sending e-mail inquiries on ticket availability. However, if
someone has Bowl tickets to SELL,
we will do our best to inform the chapter promptly via e-mail so you
may be contacted directly. Please e-mail the committee your full name,
contact information and ticket details.
Additionally, it is not practical to
coordinate
group travel to any bowl game on such short notice (~ 3 weeks). Group
travel requires a minimum of three months of planning in order to
assess interest, collect payments and make provisions for
transportation/hotel/tailgating arrangements. The committee is eager to
organize another game trip for Houston alumni, and continues to look
for opportunities to do so. Any future plans will be communicated as
early as possible.
