Thanks to all of your donations, the Food Bank Challenge was a tremendous success for the Hokies and the Mountaineers! The combined total was just 130 lbs. shy of 2 Tons - double last years donation!
Some exciting news: 838 lbs of that food was purchased from a single donation! A very special thank you goes to a VT Corps of Cadets Alumnus (87), for an anonymous, and extremely generous, $500 donation given in honor of those fellow alumni that are serving our country overseas.
Many thanks to all of you for your generosity. Every dollar and every can counts toward helping someone in need! We also thank the Mountaineer alumni for arranging the transportation of the donations to the Food Bank. And, we thank Pat Tyree (VT 86) for the great-looking posters!
Representatives from the Food Bank also came out to SROs Sports Bar on Oct 2 to thank the alumni for their donations, and snapped a few photos for their newsletter. Donations will aid in the Food Banks disaster response support effort for many areas of the Gulf Coast that have suffered damage this hurricane season (www.houstonfoodbank.org).
And the icing on the cake
Tech won the football game, 19-13! So, at the amusement of the SRO crowd, we dressed up the WVU Chapter President in a Hokie Bird Costume! Gobble! Gobble! Chapter President, Shelley Tyree, thanked the WVU Chapter President, Nancy DiPaolo, for being such a great sport dancing around in her Hokie Bird costume and posing for photos. See those and more on our website! Well be saving that costume for the 5th and Final Food Bank Challenge in 2005!
Way to go, Hokies! Congratulations on all your victories!
